Info
In the bustling heart of Seoul, South Korea, American couple Sarah and Mark fell in love and married despite family disapproval. Their love was strong, and over the years they returned to Korea often, now with children in tow, as a family tradition, to give thanks to the place where they first met many years ago. On one such trip, they brought their newest joy—a one-month-old baby girl.
Their happiness turned to horror when, in the middle of a crowded street, the infant vanished from her stroller. Despite desperate efforts and police involvement, no trace was found. Officials suspected a professional abduction, but the search eventually ended in heartbreak. The devastated couple was soon forced to return back to the U.S without their daughter, heartbroken over the loss of their child.
Unbeknownst to her parents, the baby was taken to a covert lab in Korea, one of many hidden under the guise of research. There, she was subjected to inhumane experiments aimed at creating military superhumans. Stripped of affection, her only solace came from a kind-hearted scientist who defied protocol and gave her a name: Sae, inspired by her winged appearance and gentle nature.
Haunted by guilt, the scientist eventually smuggled her out, placing her in the care of smugglers who took her to Japan. Before parting, he gave her one final gift—freedom and a warning: Hide your wings. Trust no one easily. This life is yours now.
TL;DR
- Sae was abducted from her stroller during a family trip to Korea in the middle of a crowded intersection.
- she was made the test subject to a mad man who was determined to create superhumans (or metahumans) to bolster the strength of the military
- such research laboratories were incredibly common and were always disguised as something else, to keep the reality of what goes on in there a secret
- over time she began developing bird-like traits from a combination of tests and other experiments. Her original hair and eye color painfully changed to reflect that
- one scientist realized This Is Not Morally Right and tried to help her out in subtle ways without alerting the other staff in the lab. he promptly gave her the name, Sae, because her test subject name 01, was not fitting for a child
- his guilt grew and overtime he realized that while he couldn't save all the people trapped in this lab, he could definitely save her. He did just that by helping her escape one night when the timing was right
- With hush money and no questions asked, she was smuggled out of Korea and into a very rural part of Japan. So rural that it would be impossible to find her but it was perfect for her, since she could finally have a chance at a normal(ish) life, even if it was tucked quietly away
Despite a harsh start in life, Sae grew up to be a kind, well-adjusted individual, thanks to the support she received after escaping to Japan. She’s energetic, impulsive, and always the first to dive into new situations without fear. Extremely friendly and outgoing, Sae never hesitates to approach others, even if they seem standoffish or unfriendly. She thrives on connection and enjoys meeting people from all walks of life, making her naturally sociable and easy to get along with. Always smiling, Sae carries a sunny disposition and chooses to focus on the good in others, even when life proves otherwise. She’s hard to upset and easy to please—so much so that her constant cheerfulness can sometimes be unsettling. However, if she’s ever truly wronged or backed into a corner, her response is sharp and fierce—like a wild animal defending itself.
